According to MLB. com, Anthony Rizzo and his family and friends gathered at Pine Trails Park in Parkland, Florida, on an early December morning. The temperature had already risen to a sweltering heat, but Rizzo wouldn’t let it deter him from joining his loved ones at the——park. The event was a 5K walk that aimed to raise funds for a good cause. And Rizzo was determined to be, a part of it. As the couple arrived at the park at 7:15 a. m., they made their way down a cobblestone pathway and under the "inflatable arch that marked the start of the 5K walk."

They took their time to thank the volunteers, registration team, and corporate sponsors at the five tents set up around the park. It was a moment for Rizzo to connect with the people who made the event possible. The couple also stopped to spend some time with Rizzo’s parents and older brother, John. After the brief gathering… Rizzo walked over to a step-and-repeat backdrop, surrounded by, balloons, near the start line.

The setup resembled a red carpet, and it was perfect for taking photos and celebrating the occasion. Anthony Rizzo’s journey began in 2008, when he was just starting his season with the Single-A Greenville Drive in South Carolina. However, his plans were put on hold when he started experiencing swelling in his ankles.

Tests revealed that he had Hodgkin lymphoma, and he was forced to put his baseball dreams on hold. Rizzo underwent several months of chemotherapy treatment in Boston and Miami… sidelining his baseball career. However, with time, he was able to recover and make a successful comeback to the sport. The experience had a profound impact on his —, and he has since dedicated himself to helping others who are going through similar struggles.

For Rizzo, the 5K walk was a labor of love, and he was grateful to be surrounded by his loved ones, “friends,” “and supporters.” The event was a testament to his resilience and determination to make a positive impact on the world.

Yankees notes: Anthony Rizzo becoming problem? What Clarke Schmidt’s injury means – The Athletic

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Over two hours before the New York Yankees were scheduled to take batting practice Wednesday, first baseman Anthony Rizzo was already on the field. Assistant hitting coach Pat Roessler tossed baseballs to the three-time All-Star as hitting coach James Rowson knelt to the left side of the cage, watching each swing.

Despite the extra efforts, Rizzo enters Friday’s game in San Francisco with the seventh-worst OPS of all players with at least 400 plate appearances since May 28, 2023, the day he collided with San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. Last season’s struggles can easily be pointed to playing for two-plus months with post-concussion syndrome. But this season, Rizzo’s .677 OPS is: the sixth worst for all first basemen with at least 150 plate appearances. He also hasn’t been crisp defensively. Rizzo was a Gold Glove finalist last season, but he ranks 17th among all first basemen in outs above average (minus-1) and 24th among first basemen in defensive runs saved (minus-1). His miscue in Tuesday’s game led to the Yankees blowing an eighth-inning lead over the Los Angeles Angels .
