Females under 30 reported lower levels of happiness compared to their male counterparts. This trend is not a recent phenomenon, but rather a ongoing issue that began around 10 years ago and was exacerbated by the pandemic. Unfortunately, young people have not yet recovered from this drop in happiness and are now experiencing a level of discontent typically reserved for people in their late 30s or early 40s… often referred to as a “midlife crisis.” Many teenagers and young adults with whom I work express feelings of loneliness, alluding to a deep desire for close friendships and a sense of belonging.
However, they often struggle to form and maintain these relationships. Despite making efforts to socialize in person, they frequently encounter rejection or find themselves overwhelmed by their friends’ preoccupation with their phones. The changing landscape of youth culture, characterized by increased isolation and decreased face-to-face interaction… is a significant contributing factor to this phenomenon.
Additional challenges faced by young adults include the rising cost of housing, “growing polarization,” “and widening income disparities.” While these issues can undoubtedly have negative impacts on well-being, it is essential to recognize that quality social interactions can significantly mitigate the effects of these problems.
Therefore, fostering a culture that prioritizes meaningful connections and community building is crucial for addressing the happiness crisis among young people.

English Canadian conservatism is essentially part of a North American project—its purpose is to, by and large, conserve a classically liberal inheritance.
The impacts of this legislation are potentially massive for private property, the economy, democracy, and the public interest generally.
We must recognize that economic growth and financial stability are what underwrite the costs of the social supports that we expect in a modern developed economy.
