The Weibo Cultural Exchange Night, held at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore on November 16, marked a significant milestone in the country’s philanthropic efforts. Organized by Alliance For Good, a philanthropy network firm, the event honored 16 local and Chinese celebrities for their charitable contributions (AsiaOne, 2022). Among the recipients were Liu Yuxin and Zhou Yiran, who were recognized for their efforts in giving back to society and using their influence to encourage others to do good.
One of the notable recipients was Ikumi Hiroto, a China-based Japanese idol who received the Emerging Charity Artiste award for his work in animal rescue. Hiroto collaborated with public welfare partners in China to provide food and medical supplies to stray cats and dogs, and used his influence to encourage his fans to participate in charity work (AsiaOne, 2022). In his speech, Hiroto expressed his gratitude for the award, saying, “Thank you Weibo and everyone for supporting me.
To be awarded this honour, I am very surprised and grateful. I will continue to work hard and spread the power of love to more people.” This sentiment was echoed by Chinese actress Zhu Xudan, who received the Charity Dream-fulfilling Artiste award for her contributions.
