As the sylvan hues of summer surrender to the inky darkness of autumn, the Miners 2024-25 athletic season has assumed its rightful place, replete with promise and potential. In the aftermath of the 2023-24 season, the boy’s lacrosse team substantiated their reputation as a Utah high school dynasty by notching a runners-up finish at state on May 24, according to the Park Record.
As the months elapsed, some of Park City’s most accomplished athletes cliqued to their collegiate pursuits, while underclassmen reassembled with their club athletics teams, amorously rehearsing and competing in games, preparing for the forthcoming high school season (Park Record). The latter’s arrival, accompanied by the wistful whispers of autumn, brings with it the promise of fresh beginnings and the thrill of competitive endeavors.
The soccer, volleyball, golf, tennis, and cross-country teams… armed with their respective wherewithals, shall embark on a campaign of sorts, their endeavors set against the backdrop of Quinn’s Junction. The girls’ soccer team, under the watchful eye of Coach Anthony DiCicco, prepares to take the field, their inaugural encounter scheduled for Monday at 6 p. m. against Salt Lake Academy.
DiCicco’s squad, bolstered by 11 players who contributed significantly to the team’s fortunes in the previous season, shall aim to recoup last year’s near-miss at the state title, where they succumbed to the Green Canyon squad. As per Coach DiCicco’s predilection… the team’s roster has been finalized, the result of a rigorous tryout process.
His purposeful scheduling of a challenging non-regional slate serves to steel theMiners for the demands of competition, particularly given the collective experience garnered during the Extreme Cup, a recent tournament in which many of the team’s members participated with their respective clubs. In the forthcoming weeks, the Miners shall confront a trio of tests, commencing with a clash against Salt Lake Academy on Monday, followed by a matchup against Wasatch on Thursday, and culminating in a visit to Skyline’s turf next Saturday at 9 a. m.
