The Hong Kong Jockey Club and Institute of Philanthropy Sign Memorandum with Palace Museum to Promote Chinese Culture and Arts Technology Talent Development” According to the South China Morning Post, the Hong Kong Jockey Club and the Institute of Philanthropy (IoP) have signed a Memorandum of Co-operation with the Palace Museum, a charitable organization established by the Club and its Charities Trust.

The agreement aims to promote Chinese culture and values in Hong Kong, the Mainland, and worldwide, as well as support talent development initiatives in the arts technology and cultural sectors. Under the Memorandum, the IoP will donate approximately HK$440 million (RMB¥370 million) to support the establishment of The Palace Museum Hong Kong Cultural Exchange Hub in Beijing.

The Hub will serve as a platform for cultural exchange programs and exhibitions… aiming to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation ofChinese culture among international audiences. The Memorandum, titled “Promotion of Chinese Culture and Arts Tech Talent Development in the Mainland and Hong Kong,” was signed by Club Chairman Michael Lee and Dr. Wang Xudong, Member, Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Director of the Palace Museum.

The signing ceremony was attended by senior government officials and representatives from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In a statement… Club CEO and Director of the Institute of Philanthropy Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges expressed the IoP’s aim to become a global “think-fund-do” tank for China and Asia, facilitating philanthropic conversations between the East and the West.

The 10th China Charity Annual Conference recognized the establishment of the IoP as one of the most important philanthropic developments in the country last year. The Memorandum also includes plans for touring exhibitions in Beijing and Hong Kong, “accompanied by related educational activities,” “to promote cultural exchange between the Mainland and Hong Kong.” The agreement is expected to have a significant impact on the development of arts technology and cultural sectors in both regions.
