Dr. Ehud Ur is a renowned professor of medicine at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Dr. Ur is the senior author of a recent study that found plant-based meat alternatives to be a healthier option for heart health. According to the study, consumption of plant-based alternatives led to significant reductions in total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides, and an increase in HDL cholesterol.

Dr. Ur’s team found that while plant-based meat alternatives can be a healthy choice, there is a wide variation in their nutritional value, depending on the brand and type of product. For example, Dr. Ur’s team compared two burger brands, an older one and a newer one, and found significant differences in their nutritional content, including the amount of saturated fat and cholesterol.
