Jeff Davis Police Jury releases names of candidates for parish administrator
JENNINGS, La. (KPLC) – The Jeff Davis Parish Police Jury released the names of candidates for its first parish administrator in response to a public records request.
KPLC first requested the names of the candidates on April 26, but the police jury argued the names should not be released because doing so might affect the applicants’ current employment.
However, attorneys for KPLC argued the Louisiana public records law requires the disclosure of applicants for public positions of authority or a public position with policymaking duties.
At its next meeting, the police jury agreed to release the list of candidates, although it continued to oppose making it public.
