Jimmy Kimmel, the late-night comedian, revealed that he didn’t think he would ever return to host the Oscars again after his previous experiences in 2017 and 2018. However, Barbie, the popular toy doll, convinced him to take on the challenge once more.

According to Kimmel, part of the difficulty of hosting the Oscars comes from speaking about movies that his audience hasn’t seen. In 2017, he made a joke about Moonlight that highlighted the lack of familiarity among the audience with the movie, even though it won best picture. Despite this challenge, Kimmel was convinced to host the Oscars again.

Kimmel’s decision to host the Oscars was influenced by his experience watching Barbie in a movie theater.
