Most herbs and veggies need at least 6 hours of sunshine a day. That allows plants to grow in a healthier way.

Whether you’re using raised beds, pots, or a bit of soil, clear away any weeds and rubbish. Loosen the soil so it drains well and lets roots breathe.

Easy to grow and add a fresh kick to your cooking. Cherry tomatoes, lettuce, and radishes are also perfect for beginners.

Pots are fantastic for tight spaces, letting you create a vertical garden or make the most of a sunny window works best.

Follow the instructions on seed packets or plant labels for how deep to plant and how much space to leave between each one.

Water your plants regularly, especially in hot weather. Keep an eye out for any bugs or problems, and deal with them naturally whenever possible.

Pick your homegrown produce when it’s ripe and savour the taste of freshness. This will make you happy and content too.
