According to Peoplemag, a woman has refused to serve as her sister’s maid of honor at her upcoming wedding, citing the traumatic experience she endured during her own sister’s nuptials. Despite having a tumultuous relationship, the woman had hoped that her sister’s wedding would be an opportunity for them to bridge their differences.

However, her hopes were dashed when her sister’s behavior throughout the planning process and on the wedding day proved to be a comprehensive disappointment. Her sister was reportedly inconsiderate, arriving late and contributing little to the planning efforts, leaving the woman to bear the brunt of the responsibility.

The culmination of her sister’s poor behavior came during the speech, where she made a wounding remark about the woman’s partner… implying that they were only tolerated because they were a means to an end. The woman writes that she felt embarrassed and humiliated in front of their guests, and was on the verge of tears.

Two years later, her sister has asked her to be her maid of honor, but the woman has chosen to decline, “citing the lingering emotional scars from her previous experience.” Her sister responded by accusing her of being petty and holding a grudge, “but the woman — resolute in her decision.”.. unwilling to subject herself to further emotional distress.
