The Phoenix Art Museum is currently hosting an exhibition titled “Barbie: A Cultural Icon,” which explores the history and impact of the iconic doll on culture, fashion, and multiple generations of women. The exhibition features over 65 years of Barbie’s history, including her evolution from a simple toy to a cultural phenomenon.
Visitors will learn how Barbie inspired fashion designers, how she was updated over the decades to fit changing times, and how Mattel’s Dream Gap Project is paving the way for future women.
One of the highlights of the exhibition is “The Power of Pink,” which explores how Barbie’s signature color has inspired designers, artists, and celebrities.
Visitors will also learn about the Dream Gap Project, a global mission dedicated to closing the gap by challenging gender stereotypes and helping girls reach their full potential.
The exhibition runs through July 7, 2024, and is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m.
