According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 90% of adults in America enjoy snacking, making it a very common habit. However, some snacks can be detrimental to one’s health if consumed excessively.
Fortunately, there are healthier alternatives to some of America’s favorite snacks that can still satisfy one’s taste buds. For instance, instead of reaching for a Snickers bar, which contains 26 grams of added sugars, consider switching to dark chocolate.
Dark chocolate containing a higher percentage of cacao has less sugar and even offers some health benefits, such as supporting heart health, blood flow, and better blood pressure. While dark chocolate is a healthier alternative to milk chocolate, it is still high in saturated fat, so it’s important to view it as a treat. Another healthier snack option is frozen treats, such as mint chips or dairy-free options.
