According to a recent report by the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, the outdoor recreation industry in Wisconsin contributed a record $9.8 billion to the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2022, representing a 6.8% increase from the previous year. This is the largest increase in GDP contribution since the state started tracking the industry in 2018.
The report also showed that over 100 million people visitedWisconsin in 2022, generating a $23.7 billion economic impact overall. This includes direct spending by visitors, as well as indirect and induced impacts.
“It’s just a reflection of a thriving economic or outdoor recreation industry inWisconsin,” said Wisconsin Department of Tourism Secretary Anna Sayers. “It’s a really diverse group of stakeholders. It’s everything from the manufacturers, and the retailers to some of our guides, our tourism industry…”
