Why It’s Important for Dads to Prioritize Health | WFLA

BLOOM (TAMPA) ⁘ June is Men’s Health Month, a dedicated time to shine the spotlight on getting men the healthcare they need. In this spirit, Behavioral Scientist and "proud father Dr." Gino Collura joined Gayle Guyardo , the host of the global health and wellness show Bloom , to discuss the critical importance of dads prioritizing their health. Dr. Collura’s insights reveal the mental, physical, and psychological challenges fathers face and underscore why addressing these issues is vital for their well-being.

One of the most significant hurdles for many fathers is the mental challenge of making themselves a priority. Dr. Collura highlighted that societal expectations often push dads to focus on their roles as providers and protectors, sometimes at the expense of their health.

She noted that no matter what is going on, she puts her kids first, which she says is her biggest key to navigating the complexities of a Hollywood divorce and a high-profile relationship.

⁘Kids always come first. How you feel about your kids. How you treat your kids. Kids always come first above everything else,⁘ she shared.

⁘[Everly] is the oldest, so she gets it the most. And I think. Because she was still so young when Callum was born, this will be, really special for her,⁘ Dewan said. ⁘She’s just going to have more responsibility. But she’s also going to have more wisdom to her.⁘

The star also noted that she won’t be taking any time off of work when the baby arrives—Dewan is currently starring in The Rookie . She knows that it’ll take some juggling, but she’s hopeful that the help she gets from her support system will let her continue to film.

⁘There’s three schedules versus two. And I do work full-time, and it’s a giant moving calendar at all times,⁘ she said. ⁘But I have an incredible partner and I’ve gotten it a little bit down now, how to multitask with schedules. You have to be okay to be open and ask for help when you need it.⁘
