An unequal world: Designing a safer, healthier place for women and girls in Argentina, Cameroon …

To create a safer and healthier environment for women and girls, we must address the gender gaps in various fields, including technology, science, and finance. The Alliance’s experts and members are taking several actions to close these gaps, including:

1. Increasing the number of women and underrepresented groups involved in science and technology.

2. Changing the institutions that have historically excluded them.

3. Producing knowledge that is inclusive and equitable.

According to Professor Londa Schiebinger, director of the EU/US Gendered Innovations in Science, Health & Medicine, Engineering, and Environment Lab at Stanford University, a framework for advancing gender equity hinges on three “fixes”:

1. Fixing the number of women and underrepresented groups producing science and technology.

2. Fixing the institutions that have historically excluded them.
